PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) is the profession that helps children do the things they want and need to do on a daily basis. These daily activities include playing, learning, interacting with peers and caregivers, and developing life skills. Occupational Therapy addresses fine motor skills, coordination, sensory processing and modulation, feeding difficulties, self regulation, and visual motor skills.

Children may benefit from OT if they:

  • have difficulty with handwriting

  • exhibit poor balance and/or coordination

  • have behavioral challenges or social skills issues

  • have difficulty transitioning to or from activities or people

  • have difficulty attending to tasks

  • have too high / too low muscle tone

  • have feeding or eating issues (picky eater)

  • often have emotional outbursts
